Japanese Seal Craftsmanship in Kamakura

Our family’s seal-engraving tradition began in 1898. Today, fourth-generation engraver and Zen Buddhist monk Mitsuhiro Tsukino works with his wife, both nationally certified First-Class Skilled Craftspeople, at our atelier in Kamakura.
We bring careful attention to lettering, line, and space—respecting the identity of your design while considering how it will work as an engraved seal.

We review the project and discuss feasibility, materials, costs, and the expected schedule.
Step 3 :Confirm the design
Approve the agreed design and specifications before engraving begins.
Step 4 :Craft & deliver
We make your seal and arrange delivery under the agreed terms.
Each project is reviewed individually. Pricing, production time, available sizes, and delivery arrangements depend on the design and specifications.

Can you engrave artwork supplied by our designer?
Yes. Please submit the artwork for review. Reproduction depends on its detail, the requested size, and the chosen material. Any necessary adjustments will be discussed before production.
Can a design studio enquire on behalf of a client?
Yes. Please tell us that the project is for a client and share any design requirements or approval arrangements.
Can you help if we do not have a design?
Yes. We can discuss a custom seal design based on your name, preferred lettering, and intended use. The design scope and fees will be confirmed in the quotation.
Can we order one seal or several?
Please include your requested quantity. We will confirm whether we can accommodate the project and provide a quotation. For multiple seals, tell us whether the designs are identical or different.
What should we send with our enquiry?
Send a clear image or PDF of your design, if available, together with your intended use, preferred dimensions, quantity, destination country, and required date. If you have vector artwork, let us know. Please submit artwork that you own or are authorised to use.
Do we need to know the material or size before contacting you?
No. Describe the intended use and the impression you would like to make, and we can discuss the options.
