Takaoka ironware, as a traditional Japanese craft, continues to convey high technology and aesthetic sense to the present day. Takaoka ironware is a general term for iron products produced mainly in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Its history is long, beginning in the early Edo period when Maeda Toshinaga, the lord of the Kaga domain, summoned seven casters to Takaoka and had them open a foundry.
